    This fast track Diploma In Health and Social Care Management – Level 4 and Level 5 combined (9 Months) (Accredited by Qualifi) qualifications has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. Learners will be expected to hold the following:

    • Learners who have demonstrated some ability and possess Qualifications at Level 3 for example ‘A’ Levels or vocational awards; and/or

    OR

    • Work Experience in a Healthcare or Social Care environment and demonstrate ambition with clear career goals;
    • Level 4 qualification in another discipline and want to develop their careers in management.

                                 considerable experience but no formal
                                 qualifications may be considered, subject
                                 to interview and being able to
                                 demonstrate their ability to cope with the
                                 demands of the programme.

    The aim of this course is:

    1. To enable learners to develop strategies for implementing and leading excellence in practice in respect of equality, diversity and rights in a health and social care setting.
    2. To deepen learners understanding of professional development and to help them explore their own development as a manager in health and social care.
    3. To build skills and knowledge in effective communication practices, recognising this as an important role of the manager.
    4. To understand the health and safety responsibilities within their role for safeguarding staff and service users.
    5. To develop learners’ knowledge of forms of assessment, and to develop their reviewing and planning skills when carrying out assessments, to meet the needs of individuals accessing services.
    6. To understand the fundamentals of self and team management, as well as how organisational resources are managed in respect to regulation, inspection and finances.
    7. To provide learners with the underpinning skills and knowledge required to develop productive partnership working within own and other organisations.
    8. To provide learners with a thorough understanding of the legal framework for safeguarding and protecting vulnerable individuals, developing the knowledge and skills required to manage staff and develop staff understanding of this critical area.
    9. To develop learners’ understanding of approaches to health education and design, enabling learners to be able to plan and implement their own health promotion initiative.
    10. To show that they can lead and supervise a team and develop their performance in the health and social care setting.
    11. To develop learners’ ability to provide professional supervision to staff and support them to enhance skills and performance.
    12. To introduce learners to the research process, the methods and types of research whilst they are conducting a small scale study.

    This qualifications at RQF Level 5 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to

    • Foundation Degrees,
    • Higher National Diploma (HND) and
    • Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree.

    • There are no written exams

    The qualification is awarded by Othm, UK – an Awarding body by the UK Government’s regulator – OfQual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). All of the qualifications are listed on the OfQual register.
